Just a lovely, lovely home away from home. Everything is well appointed and immaculate. There are 4 rooms. 3 of the 4 rooms have ensuite bath and the 4th is just a step down the hall. 2 rooms have sitting areas. All rooms are lovely! (don't forget to read the other reviews here - they mention things I'm not going repeat because they say them better then I could) We stayed 2 night for our wedding. Gilja was most accommodating for the chaos of our wedding party. My bridesmaids were able to come and get dressed and we were able to use the house as a backdrop for all the wedding photos. The food was simple but fresh and yummy. French Toast - with your choice of syrup or jelly - was just perfect; slightly crisp on the edges and tender in the middle. We are making this our anniversary trip every year.

We live only about an hour away, but we wanted to spend a day leisurely book shopping at Malacuso's and at the senior center's bookshop, leisurely drinking coffee at Talula's, leisurely enjoying beers at Victory, leisurely being leisurely.... Kennett House was the perfect home base---peaceful, welcoming, and walking distance to everything. We read our new books sitting in the rockers on the lovely front porch. As an old-house enthusiast, I especially enjoyed what appear to be the original double-hung windows, which are in pristine condition and operate on their 100-year-old chains as if installed last week. The woodwork throughout the house has been beautifully restored, and the whole house is in astounding condition. You unlock your room with a skeleton key! My favorite spots are the two little nooks flanking the front door, with their benches and tall narrow windows. Ridiculously charming.

4.5 stars. Kennett House is a lovely, comfortable bed and breakfast tucked into a large stone house constructed in 1910. As may be expected, the decor is traditional, simply carved and stained woods with Wyeth prints, quilts, and a large farmhouse dining table. The rooms are a bit small, but nicely appointed, and two of them feature a small sitting nook, complete with a sofa and television. Bathrooms are ensuite, and outfitted with standing showers, large granite sinks, and thoughtful toiletries. The beds are wonderfully soft, and the sheets are silky cotton against your skin. Most importantly, the rooms are nicely shaded and the entire house is perfectly quiet. The spa robes and journals for thoughts and poems are unexpected, personal touches. As lovely as the rooms are, they become secondary to the warm, courteous, caring woman who owns Kennett House. Gilja is filled with humor, and truly cares about making your stay a satisfying one. She offers a bounty of breakfast options, including a rice omelet (which is really an egg crepe stuffed with lightly fried rice, vegetables, green onions, and shrimp), and will play your choice of classical music in the dining room as you breakfast. Even if you arrive late in the evening, she will wait for you, and happily show you how to lock the house should you venture along State Street for a late dinner. Gilja is the reason that this bed and breakfast stands out. Recommended.

My wife and I have stayed here twice, in April 2012 and again in April 2013. We prefer B & B's when we travel and have stayed in many across the U.S. This B & B is one of the nicest! Not only are the rooms immaculately cared for, with many special touches you don't usually find at a B & B (My goodness, there are even dental floss tools in the bathrooms!), but the hospitality is most gracious. My wife has lots of environmental and food allergies, and Gilja is most accommodating in attending to her guest's needs. If you have the opportunity to take advantage of this B & B, take time to notice all the details, which include some beautiful Asian art pieces. This place is a winner.

We stayed in the Wyeth room which was clean and well appointed. Wonderful breakfast on Sunday morning. Walking distance to downtown shops which are very nice. Just a great place to stay.
